ColorPilot inking regulation for sheetfed offset presses

Demands from the marketplace made it necessary to further develop CCI technology for special applications. The proven densitometric measurement and regulation of CCI has been supplemented by colorimetric quality evaluation. The printing machine is still regulated in accordance with densitometrically measured values. In one measurement run, FM 19 measures density and color location (Lab-values) simultaneously from measurement patches only 3 x 4 mm.

The arrangement of the measurement sensors ensures

• densitometric measurement with polarization filter
  
• colorimetric measurement without polarization filter

The FM 19 combines the advantages of density measurement and colorimetry:

• The density measurement enables the regulation of the printing process
  
• The colorimetry enables color allaying quality control
  

For some time now, the printing industry has been using colorimetry for assessing printed results, especially in connection with standardization and color management covering all process stages in the digital production chain. This is because, with special colors in particular, objective assessment of the color effect achieved in the end can only be provided by colorimetrical analysis. This is especially important for packaging printing.
